Niklas Schwake on Balancing Brand and Performance and the Power of Community

At CreatorFest, we picked the brain of Metapic Co-CEO Niklas Schwake to hear more about the evolving creator economy landscape, balancing brand and performance and the importance of storytelling in creator content.

In our conversation, Schwake laid out the path for successful brand and performance integration. The key? It’s all about establishing the right tracking systems, practicing patience and establishing fair pricing models — and right now, hybrid is emerging as the right approach, said Schwake.

And, as AI continues to grow, authenticity — the word of the moment — will become even more important.

“I think your audience can tell if something is authentic or not,” said Schwake. “I think you will see creators separating: the ones that understand community and authenticity and the ones that really just go for a lot of reach.”

Here, Schwake emphasised that creators who have created a community in a niche market with 50,000 followers can become more financially successful than those who have amassed millions of followers with generic content.

At the same time, Schwake noted that while creators are using more AI tools for efficiency, storytelling must remain the underpinning of their content.

On whether AI creators and influencers will perform well, Schwake said, it depends.

“I think people want entertainment. I think if you're being entertained in the right way, why not engage with an AI creator?” said Schwake.
