Publishers Accuse Google SGE of Plagiarism, As Rollout Begins

On Tuesday, Google unveiled its newest AI developments at the annual I/O developer conference in California.

The tech giant announced its plans to further integrate generative AI into Google Search, which will start rolling out in the US across the next week.

Specifically, US users will see ‘AI overviews’ at the top of SERPs. These are summaries generated by Google’s Gemini model that will quickly answer search queries, mirroring the interface of popular large language models like ChatGPT.

By the end of the year, Google estimates that AI overviews will become available to ‘more than a billion people’.
