YouTube has announced an expansion of its partnership with Shopify, broadening access to the YouTube Shopping affiliate programme for U.S. merchants. 

The moves allows all eligible Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the U.S. to join the programme via the Google & YouTube app on Shopify, which enables them to reach a wider audience through YouTube creators.

In 2023, YouTube reported over 30 billion hours of shopping-related video content viewed on the platform. The expansion aims to capitalize on this trend by making it easier for creators to tag products in their content, thereby facilitating direct links between viewers and merchandise.

The updated programme provides Shopify merchants with the ability to join a growing number of U.S. brands already leveraging YouTube's extensive reach. Brands such as BK Beauty, Popflex, HexClad, and GoPure Beauty are among those currently participating. Merchants who enroll in the programme can manage their involvement through Google Merchant Center, where they can access analytics, content, and product information.
