A federal judge in San Jose has dismissed a proposed class action accusing PayPal’s Honey browser extension of hijacking affiliate commissions.

The lawsuit, filed by Wendover Productions and a group of bloggers and influencers, alleged that Honey replaces their Affiliate IDs with PayPal’s own Affiliate ID during the consumers’ checkout process, thus “diverting the Affiliate Commission[s] to itself.” 

Plaintiffs claimed the extension created hidden tabs or refreshed merchant pages to overwrite tracking cookies, allowing PayPal to receive credit for sales even when Honey played no role in driving the purchase.
