Twitch will soon allow “most streamers” to access monetisation tools from the jump, the platform announced in a recent blog post.
CEO Dan Clancy does not state exactly when this update will arrive, but assures it will be some time in 2025.
When it does eventually launch, it will allow creators to earn money on the platform without needing to reach "Affiliate" or "Partner" status. As soon as they start streaming, they can begin monetising their content.
Previously, streamers had to meet specific thresholds to qualify for monetisation, such as having 50 followers and maintaining an average of three viewers per stream.
In removing these barriers, Twitch is aiming to make it easier for new creators to start earning from their content immediately.
"We want you to be able to take advantage of our monetisation tools, whether you're just getting your community started or have been on Twitch for a while," Clancy said. He added that Twitch will also introduce an option for streamers to use their earnings on purchases within the platform.
