Reddit’s been having a moment as of late.
It’s been a steady, gradual rise since its conception in 2005. Compared to platforms like Twitter or Instagram, which skyrocketed to fame in a mere couple of years, Reddit has played the long game, incrementally amassing more users and popularity year after year.
It’s a strategy that’s worked out well for the company. Now, having just passed its 19th birthday, it stands stronger than ever and even looks well-positioned to completely dominate the future of search, be that traditional or AI-powered.
This might sound hyperbolic, but look at recent events.
Back in November 2023, Google rolled out its ‘Discussion and forums’ feature. Designed to enhance search results with a more personal touch, this feature started popping up all over the place at the very top of SERPs. Interestingly, it appeared often for affiliate-related searches, like product review terms.
