Amazon is beta-testing a feature that redirects customers to brands' own websites when the desired products are unavailable within the app.
In a blog post, Amazon states that the feature is part of its “mission to make customers' lives better and easier every day with wide selection, low prices, and convenience.”
How will it work?
Currently, the beta is only being tested among select customers in the US. Also, it appears to reside solely in the mobile app for now.
When select customers search for a brand or item, Amazon will bring up products available in its store and products it does not contain.
When a customer clicks on the latter option, they will receive a notification that they are leaving Amazon, and then be redirected to the brand’s website.
Apparently, brands can even enable ‘Buy with Prime’ benefits on purchases from their own site, ensuring fast, free delivery, easy returns, and round-the-clock customer support.
