TikTok search results pages could be about to display a link to Google results, suggesting a surprising partnership that the industry wasn’t expecting any time soon.
The potential feature was first spotted by app researcher Radu Oncescu, who shared a screenshot on X which shows the TikTok search results page including a link to search Google for the same query.
However, in another screenshot shared by Oncescu, a TikTok pop-up reads, “TikTok does not endorse or take responsibility for search results from Google.” Although Google has declined to comment, TikTok has confirmed to Insider that it’s testing the feature in some markets.
A solution to the search race?
This development comes on the heels of reports from last year indicating that TikTok had begun to emerge as the leading search platform for Gen Z, posing a potential threat to Google's market share dominance.
