From June 15th, Amazon will implement changes to its affiliate commission rates in Australia, dramatically dropping fixed fee percentages, according to an email received by affiliates in the area.
The news follows a few months of drastic changes at the company in an attempt to cut costs. Earlier this year, Amazon’s CEO and President, Andy Jassy, announced that the business was “working really hard to streamline (its) costs.”
It was in March that we saw the year-so-far’s layoffs rise to 27,000. And Prime Video appears to be following in Netflix’s footsteps; it was announced last week that plans were in place to launch an ad-supported tier of the streaming service, evidently in an effort to increase revenue.
