Stay at the top of your game

At PI LIVE Europe, Briony Sheard moderated a brilliant session on redefining affiliate’s role in customer retention, and later shared her key takeaways on LinkedIn.

With rising costs and competition squeezing margins, Briony said it’s time to rethink where affiliate sits in the customer lifecycle. Her insights centred on three themes:

Mindset & Data Shift – Affiliate shouldn’t stay at the bottom of the funnel. Connecting affiliate and CRM data enables smarter, more personalised journeys and shared goals around loyalty and lifetime value.

Measurement Maturity – Move beyond ROAS to metrics like lifetime value and repeat rate, with MMM connecting short-term results to long-term retention.

Collaboration – True retention requires transparency and aligned KPIs across channels.

As Briony summed up: retention isn’t one team’s job, it’s a whole marketing effort, and affiliate is ready to take the lead.
