Stay at the top of your game

Watch your traffic sources like a hawk. Kevin Indig’s latest analysis shows a sharp rise in zero-click searches, now at 76% since Google’s AI Overviews rolled out.

His study of 5 billion queries found that searches without AI Overviews drive twice as many pageviews as those with them.

The takeaway? Don’t take Google’s “traffic growth” claims at face value. AI-generated summaries are reshaping user behaviour, and publishers are being cut out of the journey for a lot of searches. Prioritise traffic channels you can control, and rethink how you capture value before the click.
