Welcome back to the first Influencer Insider of 2025! I hope you've missed me, because we're about to become a weekly affair once again.

It's been an interesting week for influencer marketing so far. The UK implemented a new Online Safety Act, Trump revealed that TikTok had four potential buyers, and Influencer.com released a shocking content creator report.

Content Creation Is Still a ‘Side Hustle’ for an Astonishing 88% of Influencers

Influencer marketing spending reached over $24 billion in 2024, but the truth is, the creator economy is not as established as many brands believe.

A study by Influencer.com revealed that only 12% of creators make content as a full-time job, and out of those, only 25% rely on it as their main source of income.

✨ Campaign of the week: Béis

Béis launched one of the most fun interactive marketing campaigns of the year to celebrate the release of their new Berry Collection suitcases. The luggage brand, founded by actress and influencer Shay Mitchell, built a huge interactive claw machine where people could line up, strap in and take home whatever product they could hold onto.

The campaign was a great example of EGC, as employees filmed videos of the event in full-swing. The pop-up event has also been all over Instagram and TikTok posted by influencers and ordinary users alike, meaning UGC was generated organically. It was wins all around for Béis this week.

💭 Thursday thoughts

Due to time zone differences, some babies are born hours before others but have a later birthdate and are thus considered younger.

It gets even wilder - if a baby is born at 11:30pm Monday in Hawaii, a baby born directly south on the Line Islands of Kiribati at the exact same time will be born 1:30am Wednesday.

Due to International Date Line Shenanigans The Line Islands are 26 hours ahead of Hawaii.

📊 Poll of the week

Following the news that the TikTok sale would definitely be going ahead before its April 5th deadline, I asked our LinkedIn community if they would still use TikTok if it was bought by Elon Musk. The results were... overwhelmingly against.
