While we're on the topic of Google...

Did you know that on this day in 2002, the verb 'Googled' was used for the first time ever on television in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

What's your favourite made-up verb that you now use regularly? Reply to this email with your answers, we'd love to hear 'em!

And it can't be 'incrementalised.'

📣 Get it off your chest at PI LIVE

Whatever you want to shout about, we've got a space to make that happen at PI LIVE this year.

At the Voicebox in the Vault, there will be three Open Mic sessions throughout the first day of the show, where we're encouraging delegates to come and spit truths about the industry.

This can be a general discussion, or it could be prepared slam poetry, it's really up to you.

To kickstart the discussions, we are bringing some starter topics to each time slot.

9:30 AM to 10:15 AM - Let’s talk about what’s worked and what hasn’t in 2024.

10:30 AM to 11:15 AM - Some chatter about the ICO’s updated guidelines. What does it mean and what do we do about it? We’d particularly love to hear brands join in with this one.

3:00 PM to 3:45 PM - Google traffic. Have you lost it? Does it matter? Let’s discuss.

We hope to see you there for some brazenly honest chats.

Tip of the Week

Stay at the top of your game

Want a highly visible space to share useful, well-written affiliate content?

Well, new research from SEO expert Lily Ray has shown that LinkedIn articles are performing exceptionally well in Google's AI Overviews – and they allow affiliate links too.

This is a similar hack to what affiliates were doing on Reddit, although arguably even better, since affiliate links are permitted.

Let's hope that the affiliate content shared in these spaces stays relevant, well-informed, and useful to users. If not, we could end up with another 'affiliate spam' situation that ruins the whole thing for everyone.

So, if you've got the goods and you're looking for a new place to share it, consider writing some LinkedIn articles.
