Founded in 2016, OnlyFans was launched as a platform inclusive of content creators from all genres, allowing them to develop authentic relationships with their fanbase and monetise their content on a subscription basis.
Many social media platforms have very strict guidelines as to content that can be shared publicly. OnlyFans’ desire to create a safe space for its creators and freedom for creators on the platform to monetise a huge variety of content has meant it has developed somewhat of a stigma for being a platform that houses a large amount of ‘NSFW’, adult content.
Although OnlyFans’ plans to ban adult content were backtracked in Autumn of 2021 due to the disappointment of adult content creators who had found a safe space to monetise their work, OnlyFans continues to work towards educating users and outsiders about the opportunities that OnlyFans presents for creators of all genres.
