August has presented positive changes on social media such as the ability to filter out weight loss-themed content on Instagram, the launch of YouTube’s US podcast platform, and many more social platform features that will allow the content creator sphere to expand.
You can now filter out weight loss-themed content on Instagram
Having received feedback from users who feel as though consuming weight loss-themed ads on their feeds can be damaging to them, and especially younger users, Instagram has now launched a filter that allows users to filter out this type of content.
This positive feature allows users to customise the suggested content on their homepage. The feature can be implemented by taking these four simple steps: Head to “settings” and click “ad”. Then click “ad topics”, and type in “body weight control” in the search bar. Lastly, select “see less”.
Selecting this content feature will not guarantee that weight loss ads will leave your feeds entirely, but it will dramatically decrease the likelihood of these ads appearing.
