Influencers Team Up to Boost Representation of Indigenous People in Media
With conversations of diversity, inclusion and representation ever prominent online, advertising companies are working on tools to be more representative with the creator tools they are offering. Some are even utilising influencer marketing to push their latest incentives.
Back in March, we reported how the stock image database, Getty Images, had been working towards pushing the advertising industry to move forward in terms of authentically and inclusively portraying women. Storyblocks, another unlimited stock content site is following in similar footsteps with new media collections to fuel the visibility of Indigenous stories in advertising and media, and it is utilising influencers to further boost representation.
In Celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on 11th October, Storyblocks is adding a new media collection highlighting themes such as Indigenous joy, community conservation, and food sovereignty. Launching and actively promoting this media collection focuses on providing content creators and advertisers with more diverse and inclusive stock footage in order to drive the visibility of underrepresented communities, especially Indigenous people.
